Lonesome Valley (Cashiers, NC)
June 6, 2015
While Britt and John attended college together at Western Kentucky University, it wasn't until they both joined the Nashville Sports League several years later that the pair began dating. After the annual Music City Hot Chicken Festival on the Fourth of Julythe bride's family owns Hattie B's Hot Chicken, where the groom is executive chefJohn proposed with the couple's dog, Aida, on the back porch of their new home in East Nashville. 'We were surrounded by fireworks and the Nashville skyline,” Britt recalls. 'It was incredible!”
Inspired by their love of adventure, Britt and John's destination wedding in picturesque Lonesome Valley was stunningly simple with special details and a focus on family throughout. Britt and her mother, who share a love of flowers, did their own floral arrangements, and Britt's grandfather surprised the couple with an eight-foot tall cross made out of mountain laurels from the bride's family lake house in Lake Toxaway, North Carolina.
'We wanted a family-focused wedding
where we were able to be with the ones
that love and support us the most in life. Without them, our lives would not have
been shaped as they are, and they inspire
us in our relationship every day.”
