The Row Kitchen & Pub opened its dining room on Saturday; the bar is still under construction but is expected open next week. The decor is just what you'd expect from a Southern-inspired pub sitting smack on Music Row: There's rough-hewn wood lining some walls while images of artists cover others; a few antler chandeliers give the room a lodge-like feel.
On the menu, there are plenty of dishes to share. Individual "pots" of pimento cheese, white bean hummus, and chicken pâté topped with sweetly caramelized onions are served with homemade pickles and crackers. The sweet potato skins are barely charred and topped with barbecue chicken while the deviled eggs come in five different styles, topped with pimento cheese (there's a lot of that here), caviar, bacon, pickles, and the pepper-and-vinegar mixture, Tennessee chow chow. There are also hearty fried-green tomatoes topped with chow chow as well as a strong selection of sandwiches (grilled pimento cheese) and entrees (fried catfish).
On tap, they've got all of your favorite Nashville brews plus more than a dozen other Southern regional beers. For dessert, go for the 'flight” which features four desserts served in individual mason jars. All in all, it's a fine mix of Southern favorites available in a spacious, relaxed setting--and will surely draw crowds for its portions (and that pimento cheese).
