The 102-year-old Goo Goo Cluster finally has a permanent home for the masses to enjoy: 4,000 square feet of space in a brick building just off Lower Broad that formerly housed a law firm. Stocked with chocolate galore as well as a line of tried-and-true retail favoriteslike the ever-popular 'What a Cluster!” teesthe store also features a historical timeline, complete with artifacts from the archives that were compiled by Jeff Sellers, a curator for the Tennessee State Museum.
While Goo Goo officially opened its doors at the end of November, a pop-up shop had occupied the space since the company closed on the building this past summer. Chef/chocolatier Lauren Garcia will be whipping up a new specialty Premium Goo Goo that's four ouncesversus the standard 1.75in a variety of flavors, like dark chocolate, pretzel, salted caramel, and chocolate ganache, each made fresh daily. There's even a commercial kitchen in the center of the store, enclosed by a half-circle glass viewing area and flanked with subway tile inlaid with the Goo Goo logo, meaning visitors can watch as the candy is being made.
