Healthy Dishes in Nashville

Whether you’re fully committed to Whole30, have gone paleo or vegan, or are just attempting to do better while eating out, we’ve rounded up a number of dishes around town to help keep you on track.

Paleo / Whole30

• Redfish and mussels - charred redfish with cabbage, braised mussels, chili, and chorizo broth
 at Butchertown Hall 

• Smoked brisket with a baked potato on the side (skip the skin, which may have oil or butter)
 at Martin’s Bar-B-Que Joint 

• Steak and eggs with roasted red potatoes and charred red pepper sauce
 at Marché
 (skip the potato; sub side salad)
• Angry Bird chicken sausage in a lettuce wrap, add a side salad
 at Von Elrod’s (keep the avocado; skip the corn and buttermilk dressing)
• Classic burger with lettuce, tomato, onion (skip the pickles and yellow cheddar), add a side of steamed spinach at Burger Up (choose a lettuce wrap or gluten-free bun)

Paleo / Pescatarian / Whole30

• Oysters on the half shell with mignonette
 at Le Sel
• Mussels Escabache 
at Henrietta Red 
(they offer vegetarian brunch and dinner menus, which include items from the regular menu substituted with vegan / vegetarian friendly options—just ask!)
• Red snapper ceviche
 at Saint Añejo

Paleo / Vegan / Whole30

• Kale Caesar with garlicky almond Caesar dressing at EIO & The Hive
 (skip the croutons; can also add protein)

• The Doc (smoothie) - kale, spinach, probiotics, spirulina, ginger, mint, mixed berries blueberries, strawberries, banana, and juiced apple
 at I Love Juice Bar

Paleo / Vegan 

• Peasant Salad - seasonal vegetables with lemonette dressing at Epice


• Good Thing - brown rice, edamame, watermelon radish, spinach, and carrot ginger dressing at Lulu (can also add tofu or a veggie patty)

Lacto-ovo Pescatarian

• Desi bowl with mixed greens, Tandoori shrimp, and bhunna at Chauhan Ale & Masala House (bowls can be customized top to bottom to work with a variety of diets)

Lacto-ovo Vegetarian / Paleo / Whole30

• Sweet potato and kale hash with poached eggs
 at Caviar & Bananas
