Spring Fling for TennGreen
This month, the Spring Fling for TennGreen included over 350 guests at the Music City Center, honoring former Tennessee Governor Phil Bredesen and key members of his administration and leaders of non-profits who protected iconic natural places in Tennessee during his tenure.
The event was co-chaired by John Noel and Bob Tuke, board members of the Tennessee Parks and Greenways Foundation. Dave McKinney, Don Barger, Drew Goddard, TWRA Dir. Ed Carter, Gary Myers, Jeanie Nelson, Jim Fyke, John Morgan, Kathleen Williams, Lisa McCarter, Paul Sloan and Scott Davis were honored for the significant roles they played in protected hundreds of thousands of acres of land. Some of these notable achievements were the protection of Cummins Falls, the addition of Fiery Gizzard, expansion of Scott’s Gulf and Rocky Fork and over 130,000 acres protected in the Cumberland Mountains.
Emmylou Harris treated guests to a brief performance while guests enjoyed sustainably-raised salmon over orzo. Funds raised at the Spring Fling will assist with 2017’s key conservation projects including pursuing expansive land protection projects at Pogue Creek Canyon, in Scott’s Gulf, and along the Mississippi.
