2016 ATHENA Young Professionals
A crowd of more than 300 gathered at the foot of Athena in The Parthenon in Centennial Park to celebrate Women's History Month and honor 40 nominees of the 2016 ATHENA Awards & Scholarship Program, presented by Saint Thomas Health. The evening's event was hosted by Chairwoman Laura Tidwell and Co-chairwoman Mendy Mazzo. Mayor Megan Barry presented the 2016 ATHENA Award to Dr. Phyllis Qualls-Brooks, who was nominated by Nashville Cable, and the 2016 Young Professional Leadership Award to Amanda Blanck, who was nominate by National Association of Women Business Owners, Nashville Chapter. Seven scholarships were awarded to traditional and non-traditional female students from Middle Tennessee during the program, and Dell surprised the recipients with new laptops to help with their educational endeavors.
