YWCA Nashville & Middle Tennessee recently hosted its 25th annual Academy for Women of Achievement celebration and induction dinner at the Omni Nashville Hotel in downtown Nashville. Proceeds from the AWA recognition dinner help fund the life-saving and life-changing programs of the YWCA, including the Weaver Domestic Violence Center, which helps families leave abusive households and start new lives.
The eight women inducted into the 2016 AWA class were Mayor Megan Barry, Dr. Katherine Brown, Marilyn Dubree, Claire Gulmi, Cordia Harrington, Sharon Hurt, Beverly Keel, and Judge Aleta Trauger. Cracker Barrel was the 2016 corporate honoree.
First Tennessee Bank was the presenting sponsor for the 11th consecutive year. Other event sponsors include Dollar General, UnitedHealthcare, Go West Creative, The Tennessean, MP&F Public Relations, and DVL Seigenthaler.
