Amy Mills and Mike Mills are pleased to announce they will be holding a Praise the Lard cookbook dinner at Martin's Bar-B-Que from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 19. The family-style dinner will include a combination of dishes from Praise the Lard and Pat Martin’s menu.
Steeped in Southern Illinois food culture, Praise the Lard is a loving ode to the century-rich barbecue traditions that have shaped and inspired Mike and Amy. On top of the stellar recipes for all kinds of barbecues and backyard-friendly tricks, the cookbook tells a uniquely American story of a hometown restaurant that, with its celebrated barbecue competition team and yearly “Praise the Lard” cook-off, truly saved a flagging town.
Tickets are $28 per person, including dinner and a "17th Street Shuffle" cocktail. Copies of Praise the Lard will available for sale that night at the restaurant via Parnassus Books.
