It’s time to face that annual conundrum: Brave the crowds to ring in the New Year in style? Or keep it personal with a few friends and a glass of bubbly? Whether you’re into hanging out with one friend or a few thousand, we’ve got a host of events worth checking out.
These bluegrass icons are pairing up for one small, celebratory, and soulful New Year’s Eve Show.
8 PM, $35-$60
The legendary bass guru and DJ brings his show to Bridgestone where he’ll rock the room from a rotating stage at the center of the arena for a full 360-degree experience.
9 PM, $50
The Fray, along with local artists Striking Matches, performs at this year’s downtown bash, followed by the annual Music Note Drop at midnight. Early activities will keep the kiddos entertained but for the late-night crowd, there is plenty of music and entertainment, especially with local television icon Storme Warren hosting.

Champagne Cocktail Party
For those who prefer to celebrate surrounded by food and friends, this intimate hands-on cooking class at The Viking Store will teach you to create a cocktail party that is relaxed, entertaining, and memorable. Learn how to craft little palate teasers inspired by the season.

Date Night: Gourmet Delight
If New Year’s is all about you and your honey, spend time crafting the perfect date-night meal with a romantic menu loaded with filet mignon and fresh seafood. This fun, informative evening class is a great way to spend time together while expanding your culinary expertise.

The annual bowl competition has our hometown Vandy facing off against North Carolina State. Watch as the Commodores trounce the Wolfpack on their home turf.

Take in a country celebration over at the Opryland Hotel this year. Ring in the New Year with award-winning quartet Legacy Five who will bring friends on stage for a celebratory but relaxing time of fellowship for the whole family. It is an entire weekend of the very best in Southern gospel music, comedy, and inspirational speaking.
