This annual fest unites 25,000 librophiles with 250 authors for a weekend, celebrating all varieties of literature. Some notable attendees for 2017 include Jennifer Egan, Ron Rash, Nicole Krauss, and Jami Attenberg. The 3-day fest features readings, panels, signings, and even a literary death match. Franklin Wine Festival

Make room in your weekend for wine—over 300 wines to be more accurate. The annual Wine Fest fills up The Factory at Franklin with live music stages, the city’s best bites, and the 2017 King and Queen of Vines. Start at Vanderbilt University’s Capers Field and get moving on the 5K or 1 mile route to benefit the AHA’s fight against heart disease and stroke.
