The Nashville Baseball Club provides a laidback way for adults to play baseball and involve their families, something founder Jeremy Mitchell visualized from the club's inception.
'I really want people to bring their families,” Mitchell says. He established both the Nashville Baseball Club and the Mitchell Bat Company, a local business that makes and sells wooden bats painted with sleek, brightly colored stripes. 'That's really the mission behind it: a family-friendly baseball experience for the guys who want to play [but] who don't have enough time to be away from their families. That's why we do it once a month,” he says. His own daughters have gotten involved by starting their own concessions stand.
A portion of the Mitchells' companies' proceeds are donated to help give inner-city kids access to baseball, and all of the Nashville Baseball Club's games are played using Mitchell Bat Company bats. The Nashville Baseball Club competes using traditional rules, no umpires, and playground-style team picks. This month's game is planned for August 7, at Cleveland Park.
