Camping just got a whole lot cooler, thanks to The Flying Ham. Founded by husband-and-wife duo Morgan and Ashley Gliko, The Flying Ham offers retro travel trailers to rent in the Nashville area. Avid travelers themselves, the Glikos purchased their first Shasta Airflyte trailer as an anniversary gift in 2015. The response they received on the road was overwhelming, which inspired the pair to invest in two more.
The Flying Ham’s fleet comprises three 2015 Shasta Airflyte trailers, a limited reissue of the brand’s iconic 1961 campers, complete with modern amenities. The Glikos deliver their trailers free of charge within a 30-mile radius and keep them stocked with linens, cookware, utensils, a TV, a record player, and more. The Flying Ham’s 16-foot trailers start at $170 a night, and the 19-foot variety goes for $185.
Beyond traveling, the Glikos rent their campers out for weddings, baby showers, photo shoots, music videos, and even to use as guesthouses.
“It’s given us new opportunities in Nashville,” Ashley shares. “We’ve lived here for 10 years now, and it’s helped us discover the city again.”
