New Men's Shops in Music City

Founded by Lipscomb University graduates Jaime Bacalan, Alexander McMeen, and Aaron Morrison, ROOTED seeks to elevate Nashville’s menswear offerings with premium apparel and footwear not readily available elsewhere in town.

“Since no one has done this concept in Nashville, in terms of exclusive, highly sought-after items, we knew there would be a market for it here,” McMeen explains.

One of the first retail tenants in Rolling Mill Hill, ROOTED’s showroom—designed by local architect Price Harrison—is sleek, modern, and minimal, an aesthetic that allows the product to speak for itself. High-end brands like Stone Island, Daniel Patrick, Mr. Completely, and NSF fit comfortably alongside sneakers from Puma, Reebok, New Balance, and Adidas, to name a few.

More than the brands they carry, though, the guys at ROOTED value serving their community above all.

“For us, it’s not just about the clothes and shoes—it’s about the people we meet, and it’s about how we treat them,” McMeen says. “The response has been incredible, and that’s all the motivation we need.” 62 Hermitage Ave, 615-915-0866; stay-rooted.com

Onward Reserve

After a successful pop-up in Edgehill Village this past holiday season, Onward Reserve set its sights on a permanent address just a few blocks away. The new locale, tucked amid restaurants and other retailers in a vibrant nook of Hillsboro Village, marks the eighth outpost for the Georgia-based brand.

“We’ve been trying to get to Nashville for a few years—it’s such a cool market,” founder TJ Callaway shares.

From its 1,800-square-foot space, Onward Reserve offers an array of men’s apparel, accessories, and outerwear from lifestyle brands like Barbour, Beretta, Smathers & Branson, and the store’s own Onward Reserve line, designed by Callaway himself. Here, you’ll also find gift-able items at every price point, from candles and coffee table books to Shinola watches, Yeti coolers, and sunglasses from Krewe, Ray-Ban, and Persol.

“There’s definitely something for everyone,” Callaway adds. 1708 21st Ave S, 615-457-2955; onwardreserve.com
