If you've been looking for an excuse to get to know the Man in Black even better, now's the time. The latest addition to the Johnny Cash Museum opened last month on what would've been Cash's 84th birthday. The new exhibit adds 1,600 square feet to the museum, increasing its size by 40 percent. Highlights include an interactive station where guests can mix Cash's songs as well as memorabilia like props and costumes from the Oscar-winning biopicWalk the Line.
'Music begins the artistic process, but the mementos are what really cement that,” says museum owner Bill Miller, a longtime friend of Cash's and the former owner of a multimillion-dollar collectibles company.
Meanwhile, a new art gallery is opening in the same building. Although separate from the Johnny Cash Museum, Gallery at 119 also has a heavy focus on music. On display will be works by local and international artists, from Louis Armstrong to Jimi Hendrix to The Beatles.
