Swedish born company IKEA is the largest furniture manufacturer in the world. But, though they wow customers with selection, low prices, contemporary décor, and bright colors, they can fall short in the customer service department.
'Part of that is just the translation factor,” says Nick Ray owner of ModerNash, which has become Nashville's ultimate 'middleman” between IKEA and local consumers. 'Most people are overwhelmed and I find that IKEA has a different terminology than what we're used to.”
Ray speaks IKEA. It's his specialty. For the past ten years, ModerNash has been bringing IKEA products to Nashville as he and his team make weeklysometimes bi-weeklytrips to the Atlanta store with the goal of offering the convenience of delivery without the hassle of long-distance travel. They also offer design and installation services.
'A majority of items can't be shipped. And, when people make the trip, they're often out of stock,” says Ray. As the middleman, he helps customers through the ordering process to avoid those issues.
ModerNash has built such good relationships with customers and area contractors that they recently opened a showroom located on Trousdale Drive to expand their services and show the quality IKEA has to offer.
'We don't charge extra for the products,” says Ray. 'Our only fee is in the delivery and installation service.”
To add to their services, ModerNash developed a software system to specifically track every single item in a delivery. They've even had customers from out of state call on them to outfit entire rental propertiesthey specialize in commercial offices, home staging, and furnishing model homes.
'I think it's because we have quick timing and turnaround and we own it. If something goes wrong, we make it right,” adds Ray.
