Opening a storefront has been a longtime goal for Kathleen Goff Weber, owner and founder of K. McCarthy Fashion Truck. When family friend Carissa Pereira offered the second floor of Sugar Dive for Weber to host a pop-up shop, the idea for a more permanent K. McCarthy locale began to take shape.
'We first did a pop-up shop for three days, and it was awesome. Then we did one for three months to make sure the concept wasn't just fun and exciting for those first few days,” Weber says. 'We ended up getting a lot of regular clients, and it really made sense for the store to stay put.”
With an average price point of $120, K. McCarthy stocks brands like Bella Dahl, Bailey44, Matison Stone, and Marie Oliver, to name a few. In addition to clothing, the new space offers select home goods and accessories like candles, Akola Project necklaces, coffee table books, S'well bottles, and Tennessee-made artwork.
'All of the art on the walls is for sale,” Weber notes. 'We have two artists: Mimi Heldman out of Nashville and Katie Toombs out of Memphis.”
Out-of-town fans, fear not: Weber says the Fashion Truck will still hit the road from time to time. For now, the goal is to close up shop and take the truck out four or five times a season for parties and special events. Once things settle down, Weber hopes to start planning parties in store, as well.
'Somehow, we'll do both,” she says. 'We'll learn as we gowe've kind of done that all along.”
