Cirque du Soleil's Toruk: The First Flight was inspired by James Cameron's 'Avatar,” and the land of Pandora is brought to life and filled with 40 of the performance group's artists. The Tourk's story takes place thousands of years before Cameron's film, long before any humans had ever visited the lush and vibrant land. Still want to know more? Twenty-seven semi-trucks are needed to transport all of the on-stage and behind the scenes equipment.
There are 115 costumes in the show, and more than 1,000 items in all, including shoes, headpieces, and necklaces.
Fourty video projectors are used to recreate the vibrance and magic of the Pandora world.
Sixteen puppets represent the creatures of Pandora: six Viperwolves, three Direhorses, three Austrapedes, and other mythical creatures.
The Toruk you see on stage has a wingspan of 40 feet and weighs approximately 250 pounds.
