We've got a 'Girl Crush” on Karen Fairchild. As one-fourth of the band Little Big Town, the brunette beauty has been a fierce fixture on red carpets all year, thanks to their hit single's meteoric success. And as she and the band prepare to embark on Luke Bryan's Kill the Lights tour, 'Home Alone Tonight”her duet with the singeris in heavy rotation on country radio. Oh, did we mention she launched her own line of clothing?
With Fair Child, her line which debuted with digital commerce company Evine, Fairchild brings her own blend of rock and country to the rack.
'My personal style has a certain rock and roll sensibility,” she says. 'I'm a fan of balancing the ultra romantic or glamorous with a bit of strength and toughness. I'm also a sucker for dramatic pieces that are surprising. Fashion should be fun and expressive.”
The line is just that, pairing staple pieces like knit tops, day and evening dresses and jackets, with sexy details (think cold shoulder cut-outs, lace sleeves, studs and grommets.) Fairchild says the opportunity to create her own line was a dream come true.
'I've always loved fashion. I used to shop for patterns and fabric, and have a tailor make me a dress just so I could be sure to have something completely original,” she says. 'I would pour through every issue of Vogue looking for inspiration and getting completely lost in the details of designs and fabrics. It's just in my blood.”
Now she gets to bring that eye for design to her fans, and she couldn't be more proud of the collections she's designed for them. It's one more way to connect with her audience, who is as tuned in to her onstage style as they are LBT's vocals.
'I always think an outfit should have an element of surprise when it's being presented on stage,” she says. 'The fans love the drama and they respond to it like they do the songs.”
