Grammy Award-winning recording artist (and recent Nashville transplant) Colbie Caillat embarks on her first-ever acoustic tour to bring her California-style songbook across the country. Her latest, The Malibu Sessions, is the first release on her own label, PlummyLou Records something Caillat has "actually been wanting to do this for a long time and I've said for years that I was going to.” You can hear her live performances of these love-struck tunes at Nashville's Schermerhorn Symphony Center on Tuesday, November 1, but first catch our Q&A below with the "Bubbly" singer/songwriter.
Welcome to Nashville! What made you decide to move here?
CC: My fiancé Justin and I wanted to try living somewhere new and thought Nashville would be a great place cause we love it, have so many friends there and can still do music!
You're out on your first-ever acoustic tour how is your approach different for this type of concert compared to how/where you have played on other tours?
CC: It's the most relaxed tour I've ever done. No pressure, no stress. Just me and my best friends on stage telling stories of how we wrote and recorded my new album The Malibu Sessions and playing all the new songs, plus some old ones.
Anything in particular we can expect at your performance in Nashville?
CC: You're gonna learn a lot about all of us up on stage, you're gonna laugh, and you're gonna feel like you're sitting on the beach on a warm sunny day.
Do you have any dream collaborations with local musicians?
CC: I've been so lucky already to have done songs with a bunch of country artists like Jerrod Neimann, Brad Paisley, Florida Georgia Line, Taylor Swift, Trace Adkins, and Lady Antebellum I love all of them!
