Convenient, celeb pampering now available to us all

Toronto raised Darryl Allen felt like he had truly arrived in the beauty industry when after a short stint at a salon in NYC (Garren, NY) he was asked to style Victoria Beckam for the launch of her clothing line. After 6 years in the Big Apple, he set his sites on Nashville to be closer to family. His mother was his greatest influence, and actually found the space he’s recently opened in a formal medical office building on Hayes Street. Sadly, his biggest mentor lost a battle to cancer and died earlier this year, but he’s making sure that her great sense of style and vision is apparent in every aspect of his new digs.

The salon is warm, with multiple nature elements including open divider walls of real branches and tree trunks. The vibe is laid-back cool. While the hairstyles may be modern, the salon’s interior is more living room meets back deck; completely relaxing for stylists and clients alike. Yes, he’s responsible for the coiffed curls on the head of Billy Currington and Easton Corbin’s rugged but polished look, but he’s equally devoted to regular clients just looking for a great cut, color or blow-out (finishing is his favorite, he shares).

One smart move he made when opening Darryl Allen Salon was taking one of his former Escape coworkers, Nikki Spalaris along with him on the venture. She’s known for her talents of keeping the nails of stars from Nicole Kidman to Reba McEntire in tip-top condition.  And, her entire client rosters swear by her pedicures that last at least a month. As a bonus, the room is completely private, with some Frank Sinatra (or tunes of your choice) playing in the background while she works her nail magic.  Another big reason to visit -- she makes amazing sea-salt caramel candies and fresh cookies daily for her clients to enjoy during the process. She even takes the whole show on the road, visiting homes and offices. Now that’s a manicure with benefits!

There’s no website up just yet, but you can get into see Darryl or Nikki by calling the salon at (615) 678-5524 or shooting an email to darrylallensalon@yahoo.com
