Amazing Germantown Loft

Written By:  Zarna Surti

Photographers:  Garret Buell

If you’ve been to Burger Up, Silo, or downtown’s newest hot spot, Etch, you’ve seen the “new Nashville” style: vintage-inspired, wooden-anchored architecture with industrial hardware accents. But long before it was replicated all over town, this now signature look started in a decidedly un-public space: the loft of local photographer Kristen Barlowe. Known for her stunning celebrity photographs and top-charted music video direction, Barlowe was one of the first to design her home, which she calls “industrial and minimalistic,” with these modern yet home-y touches.
