Leslie Embry still can’t believe she launched a salon concept a year ago. “It has been a crazy 12 months,” says the former teacher and coach of the Harding Academy girls’ lacrosse team who opened the second location of her blow-dry-only salon, Blowout Co. in Brentwood this past January. The idea, after all, was one that Embry conceptualized, built, and designed while pregnant with her daughter—and launched four weeks after she was born. The lacrosse coach admittedly had “no salon experience whatsoever,” she says but after visiting a similar concept in California, realized it was just what Nashville needed.
“We shampoo and style hair in less than an hour,” she says; they offer four different styles, from sleek to voluminously curly, as well as up-dos, Keratin treatments, full make up sessions, and even house calls (in-store rates start at $35). For multiple visits, snag a “bundle” for four, eight, or 12 blowouts. Both the original White Bridge Road location and the comfortable, contemporary new Brentwood space are just right for wedding party events, evening gown affairs, pre-prom gatherings, or even a quick pop-in before a first date.
