The first famous Nashville musical act, the Fisk Jubilee Singers, have been earning rave reviews and standing ovations for almost 150 years. Peter Cooper is a writer-editor at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum and a senior lecturer in country music at Vanderbilt University’s Blair School of Music.
