Either way, welcome to town! As your self-proclaimed experts, made up of both life-long locals and recent arrivals, offer an insider tip or two to get you going. We hope it helps you navigate your new hometown—or, for the observant natives, provides a laugh or two along the way. Back to the stats: So, where, exactly, are these 80-plus people coming from? We asked the Research Center at the Nashville Chamber of Commerce for the data. Here’s a by-the-numbers breakdown from 2015.

654,610 — Total population of Nashville

57,140 — Number of people that moved to Nashville from out-of-state

10,219 — Number of people that moved here from another country

3.9% — Percentage of the population that moved from out-of-state


$23,777 — Median income of those moving from out-of-state

28 years — Median age of those moving from out of state

3.9% — Percentage of the population that moved here from another county in Tennessee

$14,941 — Median income of those moving from another country
