Hey, Rooster is giving customers a bit of nostalgia. The general store opened in East Nashville this spring boasting shelves stocked with artisan foods, hand-crafted jewelry, and locally made paper goods. Owner Courtney Webb says she loves the sense of community general stores create, quipping that they often inspire long chats over bottles of Coke.
This love for community has been the driving force behind the concept for the store. Webb has personal relationships with almost all of the makers of the products she sells and regularly brings friends and experts in to teach artistry or design classes on the second floor. For your next barbecue, pick up a batch of mustard or one of the nine flavors of mayonnaise the store carries.
As for Webb's favorite item? 'The beer and pretzel caramels always kind of knock my socks off,” she says.
