After moving to Nashville from New York City in 2015, Candice Bruder ended a successful career in public relations in favor of a sweatier, more satisfying pursuit: opening the first space in Music City to house both infrared saunas and float pods, aptly named Pure Sweat + Float Studio.

“I’ve been a huge sweat enthusiast for years, enjoying sweat lodges and hot springs around the world. Then, I learned about the extraordinary health benefits of full-spectrum infrared saunas and float therapy, which took my wellness practice to a whole new level,” Bruder shares. “So, I wanted to provide a one-of-a-kind resource for Nashville to have these experiences.”

Pure Sweat + Float Studio offers just that. With the help of Tracy Smith at Providence Interiors, the newly-opened space features a clean, contemporary design, complete with personal touches from Bruder’s worldly travels. Colorful kilim pillows from Marrakech adorn the reception lounge’s banquettes, and photos of Iceland shot by Heidi Ross provide a visually cooling, tranquil context throughout the space.

In terms of its amenities, Pure Sweat + Float Studio is equipped with five full-spectrum infrared sauna cabins and two float pod suites. “Developing this concept, it was important to me that I could look someone in the eye and confidently say, ‘I have the best equipment in the industry,’” adds Bruder. “It’s substance and style in one location.”

Just beyond the reception lounge, you’ll find five private rooms with state-of-the-art, full-spectrum infrared mPulse cabins by Sunlighten. Infrared is a wavelength of light, experienced as heat, that creates a deep, detoxifying tissue sweat. In addition to their detoxifying properties, these luxe infrared saunas promote pain relief and circulation, anti-aging and skin health, and improved blood vessel function. (Plus, you can burn upwards of 600 calories in a 30- or 40-minute session.)

The studio’s two adjoining floatation suites (complete with en-suite showers) feature Evolution Float Pods from Superior Float Tanks. In each pod, 1,000 pounds of Epsom salt are dissolved in warm, filtered water, where you float effortlessly for 60 minutes. The salinity of the water creates a gravity-free sensation, which relieves joint pressure and allows you to reach a meditative, relaxed state of being, among a host of other benefits. Each float is completely customizable, too, with the option to add ambient lighting and your choice of music.

“Both infrared saunas and flotation therapy can complement—or enhance—anyone’s existing health and wellness routine,” Bruder says. “These are practical experiences for people to have. They really yield results, and now they’re readily available.”
