The upcoming Ballet Ball is definitely one of the season’s highlights, but getting a glimpse into the history of the institution and ballet as an art in the city is such a treat. Not only is our ballet company one to be proud of, but those involved are equally intriguing. Stephanie Stewart does a stellar job of showcasing the origins of this outstanding group, uncovering the beauty of its inception at the hands of the legendary Albertine Maxwell. Single in the City
I always love meeting new people—and our annual Single in the City feature and event never fails to provide me with a list of personalities to embrace. While our nomination list was long and strong, and narrowing it down a bit of a challenge, I am thrilled with those that we have on our pages. This list of independent movers and shakers may just be our best yet … and I cannot wait for you to share in our opportunity to know them better. And, even if you are happily attached, you might want to consider attending our big Single in the City bash in their honor on February 21. A lively crowd combined with endless energy makes it one of the best parties of the year.

My personal recount of my (now) favorite Caribbean retreat in Puerto Rico gives a whole new reason to research flights online and to pull out the luggage—and your swimsuit. I cannot imagine a better way to escape the cold for a few days that to steal away to this romantic, captivating locale.
