A Make-A-Wish Dream Comes True

I woke up to a beautiful Saturday morning in mid-November waiting in anticipation for the clock to hit 1:00 pm. Earlier in the week, I was asked to shadow Sandra Lipman and Allison DeMarcus, volunteers and Board members of The Make-A-Wish Foundation, as they surprised Keri Hunter, a Make-A-Wish child, with a day full of wishes! At eighteen months, she was diagnosed with a spinal cord tumor. After eleven surgeries, and only three left to go, she expects to make a full recovery and “be a normal kid.” Keri asked for a new bedroom set and a shopping spree, but these women went above and beyond to make Keri’s day as special as possible!

Keri’s day started with a limo waiting outside her Clarksville home for Keri, her mom, Tanya Eckert, and her friend, Caden Fredlake to hop in and head to Green Hills for a fun-filled day of pampering and surprises. Not only was this a day to celebrate the unbelievable progress of Keri’s illness, but it also counted as a fabulous celebration of her 16th birthday, which happened to be just two days later!
